Inbound Marketing, what is it?
Inbound marketing is all about bringing the customers in rather than chasing them and potentially pushing them away.
If you’re like me, I hate being targeted with sales calls, emails and LinkedIn inbound messages.
These instantly make me not want to work with whoever they are; this is why I love inbound marketing. I like to try and provide solutions for potential customers, hopefully making them engage with me and perhaps want to work with me.
This month I’m talking about inbound marketing. Watch this space for my full article next week.
How does Inbound Marketing work?
Using a combination of pull marketing techniques such as content creation like articles, SEO (search engine optimisation) and social media will create brand awareness and attract potential new customers.
Also, always having in mind that you want to educate and inform your audience rather than sell to them is always the best trait.
Outbound Marketing vs Inbound Marketing.
If you think of outbound marketing, it’s so much labour work to chase your audience, trying to make contact with them in various ways. I mean, does that even work for you? If you’re like me, it just pushes me away further. I’m more inclined to work with an agency when I have come across them myself, or they have been recommended to me.
Don’t get me wrong; there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work to ensure your website is SEO optimised, which involves lots of content creation and being creative with social media. Still, I feel this stuff is suitable for your knowledge and keeping on top of the latest trends by talking about them and educating people on these topics. I feel like outbound marketing would be a lot of rejection which can be damaging mentally. My focus is always building awareness and developing relationships, this doesn’t happen overnight, but it’s worth it in the long run.
Know what your audience wants.
If you can master inbound marketing, it can be rewarding. The content you produce is educational and entertaining rather than being sold to all the time, and inbound marketing can bring more quality results than traditional outbound marketing. When your audience finds you first, that’s half the battle, and if they make contact with you, it means they want to work with you. Organic leads or recommendations are always of a higher quality and will only strengthen your business’s reputation. So do the hard work behind the scenes and let them come to you rather than chasing them away.
