Why I enjoy having a work-life balance.
There are plenty of benefits to working from home. You’re able to create your own schedule, you’re not tied down to one location, and you have much more control over your work-life balance.
Why I enjoy having a work-life balance.
One of the best things about working from home is that you can design your own schedule. If you need to take a break in the middle of the day to take your dog for a walk, you can do that. If you want to work late into the night, you can do that too. You have much more control over your time when you work from home.
Taking the leap to a better work-life balance.
If you want to take a working holiday, you can do that. As long as you have a laptop and an internet connection, you can work from anywhere in the world. Keep having that drive for a work-life balance that works for you.
The downside to working from home is that staying motivated is not always easy. When you don’t have to commute to an office, it’s easy to roll out of bed five minutes before your start time and work in your PJs all day. That’s why creating a dedicated workspace at home and sticking to a set working schedule is essential.
If you can discipline yourself, working from home can be a great way to achieve a better work-life balance. You can take breaks when needed and work flexibly around your other commitments. But it’s not for everyone. If you find it challenging to stay motivated and disciplined, working from home might not be the right choice for you.
Do what works best for you and find a working arrangement that makes you happy.
My take on a work-life balance routine.
I, on the other hand, don’t have the luxury of rolling out of bed 5 minutes before I start work as I have two small children who depend on me to get them up, feed them breakfast and get them to nursery or school, so for that I am actually grateful because it gives me more structure to my day and gets me up and motivated early so when I’m ready to start my working day I am fulled with coffee, and I’m excited to see what the day ahead will hold.
Before I had children, I happily, well, I wouldn’t say happily, but I commuted to work in different office Marketing jobs, losing hours each week through mind-numbing car journeys, just making it to work almost always on time. I used to think this was what life was until I had my first child, and then I found myself in a new job which didn’t turn out to be what I thought it was going to be and missing out on quality time with my daughter I just realised it wasn’t worth it. I was unhappy and realised there were far more important things in life.
So I chose to work for myself at home for a better work-life balance. It hasn’t been all plane sailing, but I can 100% say I’m far happier. Being able to pick up my children and be there for them when they need me is priceless.
Choosing the right set up for your work-life balance.
I have an office set up at home, but I also have the option to work in other places. I usually try to get out and work in co-working spaces when my husband or the kids are home, so I don’t get distracted, but I like that the choice is mine.
